Participants will receive new music, a special t-shirt and will perform at the spring concert. The Orchestra is Directed by Lindbergh teachers, Angela Dunsford and Stephen Ahrens Students must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible to participate: 1. The student should be able to correctly name most of the notes of their respective staff. 2. The student should be able to read all notes on the A and D string and locate them on the fingerboard at sight without writing in note names or fingerings. 3. Students should be able to play with proper posture using correct bow hold. 4. Students should be able to play #45 "Christopher's Tune" and #63 scale simulator with no fingers/note names written.Winter-Spring 2023

BalletBalletBallet classes are based on the curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), an international teaching organization committed to establishing standards of excellence in ballet instruction. The RAD syllabus is used as a basis to ensure correct training and to inspire each student's creativity musicality and dramatic expression. If you would like additional information or your child would like to try a trial class, please register for a Ballet Consultation. Pre-K Creative Dance: Ages 4-5 Jumping over streams and soaring like birds, students will move through an imaginative dance adventure. This fun-filled class will help strengthen gross motor skills. We'll use music, rhythm, and gestures are that are playful and creative. The instructor for this class is Mrs. September Rich. The following classes will be taught by Ms. Kay Tabisaura, RAD RTS. (Email: rtabisaura@lindberghschools.ws) Pre-Ballet 1&2: A preparation for formal ballet lessons, these structured classes focus on correct posture, expression and refining motor skills. Ballet 1, 2, & 3: With a focus on ballet technique and performance qualities, students achieve skills in each level leading to increased physical strength, flexibility, coordination, and creativity. Students gain confidence as they progress though the levels with increasing complexity and challenge. Ballet 2 & 3 classes will include some Character Dance, a theatrical version on European folk dancing found in ballets. Intermediate Classes: For the more advanced dancer, this class challenges students technically, musically, and creatively with exercises that encourage critical thinking and athleticism while developing a sense of theater, movement dynamics and artistic interpretation. Dance Attire: Boys (All Classes): White t-shirt, black shorts, white socks, white ballet slippers Girls: (You do not need to purchase new dance wear IF your child has not outgrown their leotards from last year.) If purchasing new leotards, please note the following colors: Preschool & all Pre-Ballet classes- Pink short-sleeved leotards, pink or skin colored tights, pink skirt, pink ballet slippers Ballet 1 & 2- Lilac, short-sleeved leotard, pink or skin colored tights, pink ballet slippers Ballet 3- Navy blue tank or black camisole leotard , pink or skin colored tights, pink ballet slippers, black character shoes Pre- Intermediate & Intermediate: Black camisole leotard, pink or skin colored tights, pink ballet slippers, pointe shoes (with teacher approval) All classes: Please have hair pulled away from face in bun or ponytail. Beginning Swing DanceDanceYou and your partner will learn to swing dance in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. You'll learn and practice a variety of easily performed swing dance steps that are the basic ingredients of all higher-level swing dancing. This class will teach the basics of swing along with combinations and patterns of various swing movements. The techniques taught in this course will help you look great on the dance floor after just a few lessons! A fun way to meet new friends and dance to great music. PopularDriver EducationDriver EdCombines virtual classroom instruction, in person driving, and behind the wheel observation. Learn skills related to traffic laws, vehicle dynamics and driving situations while using techniques for defensive driving. Students must be at least 15 years of age with a valid Missouri driving permit. This is a non-credit course, but may help qualify for auto insurance discounts. Total of 4 hours of drive time and 2 hours of behind the wheel observation using a Community Ed. vehicle is included. All classes are led by certified driving instructors. Classroom portion offered through virtual learning and will not meet in person. The instructor will email you prior to the start of class with links and any other information. Walk with Ease: Ages 21+Mizzou Extension ClassesIf you need relief from arthritis pain or just want to be active, the Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease program can teach you how to make physical activity part of your everyday life. Studies show that Walk With Ease is proven to reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis, increase balance, strength and walking pace, and more. The virtual program includes a guidebook and walking schedule to get you moving toward better health. Participants meet via Zoom once a week with trained instructors from MU Extension to discuss successes, challenges, receive education about physical activity and walking. Women's Self Defense: Ages 14+Adult Self DefenseDevelop confidence, self-control and calmness while learning self-defense and having FUN! Black belt instructor encourages rather than intimidates and teaches hand/foot techniques including throws and breaking free from an attacker. Instructor shows how to use leverage and momentum to target the vulnerable areas, and how to break free from an attacker, plus easy-to-learn strikes, and blocks -- hands on -- while having fun! Participants practice various tactics of defense and offense but never need to do anything that feels uncomfortable to them. It really isn’t about strength or size, but attitude and skill.
